Two shot near Nationals Stadium in Washington


Two people have been shot near Nationals Stadium in Washington, D.C., the Washington metropolitan police said Saturday night.

Two people were shot, and two additional victims associated with this incident walked into area hospitals for treatment of gunshot wounds, the metropolitan police, who remain at the scene and are actively investigating the situation, said.

The shooting was reported outside the Third Base Gate, and fans were encouraged to exit via gates in center field and right field, the baseball team added.

Details of the shooting are unknown as the situation remains active, though authorities say there appears to be no immediate threat to those in the area.

The Nationals say they are working with law enforcement to provide more information once it becomes available.

The baseball team will resume its game against the San Diego Padres Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
